Pre-market futures contracts
Futures contracts for both domestic and foreign commodities. Pre-market futures are contracts to buy or sell investments at a certain price on a certain date. The sell or buy date is always in the future. For instance, a buyer makes an agreement with a seller to buy 10 shares of stock at $20 each two weeks from today. A lot of economic data—and data related to futures contracts—are released in the pre-market. Checking the economic calendar each morning is a good habit to get into. Get out of all positions at least one minute before major data releases, and don't take any new positions starting five minutes before a data release. When traders refer to using pre-market futures to dictate the market sentiment, they are referring to comparing the pre-market futures price against the fair value. The 2 rules of pre-market futures trading to remember: 1. If the futures value is higher than fair value this means investors expect the market to rise on the open. 2. The stock market futures contracts are based on the values of the major stock market indexes, such as the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500 stock index and the Nasdaq 100 index. A stock index futures contract calls for the payment of any profit or loss on the specified stock index for the time period a trader holds a contract.
